Love Notes

I saw this idea in the February Creating Keepsakes Magazine and wanted to do it for Brandon. I bought some different papers for this project and to also make little notes for the kids and for the kids to make for Valentines Day.

I cut my squares to 2.5x2.5 and rounded the corners - I love that look! I also drew a black border around each note as you'll see in the next pictures.

I cut out hearts from my papers to adhere to my little notes. I plan to give one to Brandon each day from February 1-14. I will either put them in his lunch, on the bathroom mirror for when he wakes up, or by his cereal bowl to greet him in the morning! Fun fun! I wrote a little list of 13-14 things I love about him and wrote one on each note.

I'm going to hopefully make a clothesline for Valentine notes, so I was having Titus paint some clothespins.

There has been a note on Facebook going around and asking people to list 25 random things about themselves. So I did that today and also took a picture. Now normally, I don't scrapbook out of order (I'm in July 08), but I wanted to do this page while it was still fresh in my mind. Yay for getting out of my box!

I have been having a hard time with frames that I try using, so I decided to take some from templates. I love having that option because I know everything will fit just the way I want it to and I can adjust the sizes too. That's what I did with this page. I took the frames, adjusted the sizes, totally moved things around, deleted lots from the original template and viola!

Bubbles

Lately I've been thinking about how clean and simple I like my pages to be. It's part of
"BE"ing me. I really like tan colored backgrounds and then using things (papers or fonts colors) to bring out the colors in the pictures. I don't want to distract from the pictures or the story because I've crammed too many objects onto my layout. I'm still learning to accept my own style and not worry if my page doesn't look like "so-and-so's".

This was a template - *was* because I added extra pictures and deleted other things. It's sure nice having those options! I find templates very handy when I'm wanting to fit a lot of pictures on one page - which I seem to be needing to do lately!

Grandma

I saw an idea similar to this on Jessica Sprague's site. I flipped things around a little to make it how I wanted it (it's not a template). It's super simple, but that's me! Oh yeah, the funny thing is that when I've gone looking for things (ribbon, flowers), I think, "Ok, I want to find something red." And if I don't find anything red, I end up thinking I don't have what I need. Then I remember a new "trick" I learned - I can change the color of anything! In the beginning, the burgundy paper was quite red and the white "ribbon" strip was a bright blue. Who would have thunk it?!

I learned a few more new things as I did these two pages.

#1 - I learned that if I clip the picture and the frame together, everything fits. Before I kept wondering why I couldn't get the picture to just perfectly in the frame. Today I learned how and why it wasn't working before.

#2 - I learned that I can adjust the size of the frames even though this is a template. I feel dumb for not realizing that before, but I'm still new to everything!
